In this Hangout With Mentors webinar (a live, weekly discussion that I host with a panel of amazing UnStoppable Alliance members), we discussed the importance of creating “videos on purpose”.
First things first: what do we mean by “on purpose”?
Well, it quite simply means choosing to do something with intention. Knowing the reason why you are doing something, making a plan for it and carrying it out with the kind of focused intention that will lead to success.
We’re in the Digital Age now and it can be overwhelming. It’s fast-paced and comes at you from all directions so you need to be aware of both what you are paying attention to yourself and what you’re choosing to put out there. It has to be on purpose, otherwise your message will simply get lost in the madness!
This also goes some way to explaining the importance of the “video” aspect of this conversation as well. As everything has grown more digital and more internet-based, there have been plenty of advantages of this of course. We can reach a lot more people a lot more quickly and easily. However, something can be easily lost when conducting all your business in a digital world: the human aspect of it.
How do you truly connect with someone and develop a healthy, successful and open communication dynamic using faceless, easily misinterpreted text alone?
And that goes for any kind of text: whether it be a text message, over some kind of social media messenger, or even so far as the text on a website or blog (just like this one!). There’s only so much personality, tone and honesty you can deliver through the written word.
Now with video platforms like youtube and integrated videos on your site being widely available, it only makes sense to make use of this in order to put some of the “human” back in your marketing! Show people who you are! They want to know you, not just what you’re selling and creating videos is an effective way to let them see you and hear your story. This is one of the reasons that today’s subject matter of recording video on purpose is so important to us as it’s a literal representation of what we’re trying to do here at the UnStoppable Alliance. We want to humanize the digital realm, humanize digital marketing – and we want to help all of our members to do the same thing and to reap the incredible benefits that this will bring to your life and business. One of the most effective and powerful strategies to do this is, you guessed it, through video!
However, to round back to the most important point – of doing video “on purpose” – there is a whole sea of videos of all different kinds, lengths, subject matters and qualities out there. Make sure that yours doesn’t drown without ever being seen but sails to commercial victory through the intention you set yourself when making it.
